Patchwork Pencil Case

Hi everyone! It’s been a while – the start of term has been so hectic, as well as applying to uni too! I wanted to quickly show you this patchwork pencil case that I made recently. I’ve made a few others in different patterns too.

The denim fabric and the two teal/ turquoise prints are from John Lewis, and the monochrome flower print fabric is from ikea. I used a bright pink zip as a contrast to the cooler blue colours, which I really like. Continue reading

Cactus Embroidery & Quilting Sample

Hello everyone! As you read this I will hopefully be having a whale of a time in Wales on a school biology trip.

I’ve been enjoying the Great British Sewing Bee recently which has made me want to do some more sewing, so I thought I’d do a quick post on a couple of samples that I have made.

The first is a simple cactus embroidery on a white cotton fabric, which I purchased from Fabric Land. I gained inspiration for this design from Pinterest and it uses a combination of straight stitch and french knots. I also created cactus flowers by embellishing with small pearlescent seed beads. Cell Cake

Hello again! All my exams are now over and I am returning to the blogosphere! As a celebration for it being nearly the end of the school year, and as one of my biology teachers is leaving, I decided to make a cell cake to share with my class.

I made a basic Victoria sponge cake using Mary Berry’s amazing recipe and filled it with a layer of jam. Continue reading
